Good communication is so important in life both at work and home. Luckily there are many excellent resources to support continuous improvement. A favorite read that is transformational for many people is Non Violent Communication. It lays out a doable, smart framework to share views and feedback in way that is kind and non-threatening.

A key tip: Get off messaging and email. When in doubt, walk down the hall, schedule a coffee date, or get on a plane. Pick up the phone. Email is not the best way to handle most matters. Tone is misinterpreted, people may not read it, too many people are copied. The possible perils go on and on. Just forgo handling issues by email, despite the constant temptation. Your career and reputation will be better off. One strategy is to draft long emails to organize your thoughts and not send them.
